Critical Role Campaign 4 Reveals the Warriors Party

Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, new Dungeon Master Brennan Lee Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with deep backstory, a wide array of characters, and a exciting storyline showcasing celestial beings, evil spirits, and malevolent powers increasing in power within the city.

Warning: Key plot points for the third episode of the new season lie ahead.

The Warrior Group Unveiled

The third episode ended with a dramatic pause and presented the first table of characters who will separate from the central cast to embark on their separate journey, apart from the remaining groups.

The Soldiers table consists of Teor (played by the voice actor), the agile character (Laura), the strong-willed figure (Whitney), Wicander (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan (Robbie Daymond).

Dividing the Cast

Considering an extensive roster, it was evident from the beginning that having everyone at a single group would be unworkable.

Hence, the initial installments of this story serve as an Overture, intertwining the characters’ stories before dividing into three distinct groups: Warriors, Schemers, and Seekers.

The Nature of the Soldiers Table

Per the Dungeon Master, the Soldiers table is for adventurers who prefer a traditionally charged fight-heavy gameplay experience where non-violent answers are scarce.

Upon first impression, figures such as the reluctant priest Wicander might appear unsuited, but the events of the third episode make it clear why these five characters are best suited for the Soldiers table.

Reasons to Leave

First, the group knows exactly where to go next after a brutal opening clash with the antagonists.

A former ally of Thjazi Fang—whose passing kicked off the narrative’s action—exploited the foes for his own means, breaking into the hidden lair, assaulting Thimble, and swiping all the enchanted items to auction.

Casimir then paid off his debts and escaped to a fortified location in the remote area, beyond Dol-Makjar, with Teor’s brother pursuing him.

Personal Motivations

Moreover, each member has a specific drive to leave the city the urban setting:

  • The rogue, as the companion and best friend, desires vengeance.
  • The adventurer is familiar with the northern area and warns that it is a dangerous location.
  • Tyranny and The healer, having resisted his house’s orders to execute the target and instead rescued him, have no safe haven.
  • But, their reputation as key figures in the influential clan could help the team reach places they usually can’t.
  • Moreover, Teor pledged a unbreakable promise to Wicander for his salvation and will now go with him anywhere.

Pursued by Authorities

In addition, all of them are wanted by the rulers that control the city for a variety of reasons, making lingering locally no longer safe:

  • The rogue and Kattigan are known criminals.
  • Tyranny and Wicander turned against the influential house and the army of fiends they are aligned with.
  • The fighter is marked for death by the family.

This leaves them few options but to journey toward Timmony in pursuit of Casimir.

Future Episodes

From episode three’s Cooldown, we discover that the warrior group will not appear in the upcoming installment, leaving the rest of the participants to round up the Questers and Planners parties.

Fans can look forward to learning which characters will be where in Campaign 4’s last Overture episode, released on next week.
